Accies News

18 year old defender Conner McGlinchey has now joined Berwick Rangers on emergency temporary transfer until the end of the season. He has made 1 league appearance this season, and 1 in the SPL last season.

Saturday's 2-1 win at Morton in the Irn Bru SFL1 was Accies 3800th league match. Our first league match was in November 1897 when we were admitted to fill the place of the famous Renton who hit troubled times. Our complete league playing record now reads Played 3800 Won 1426 Drawn 811 Lost 1563 Goals For 5628 Goals Against 6390.

On Tuesday young defender Stephen Hendrie is in the Scotland u17 squad who take on Serbia in a friendly at Somerset Park, Ayr, kick off 7pm. Stephen has already passed 20 first team appearances this season, despite turning 17 only a few weeks ago. Fellow defender Ryan Finnie, presently on loan at Dumbarton, has withdrawn from the squad as the Sons have a league match v Stenhousemuir the same night, where Ryan will come up against fellow Accies loanee Michael Devlin who is with the Warriors. The match is one of two warm ups the young Scots have before the UEFA u17 championships Elite Round at end March (v Lithuania, Denmark and Iceland) being held here in Scotland (at Ayr, Morton and Dumbarton).

Accies next match is away to Partick Thistle at Firhill on Saturday, 3pm at Firhill. Simon Mensing serves a 1 game ban and misses out. Meanwhile Mark McLaughlin is poised to resume training after missing out recently with an unfortunate viral infection. Ali Crawford remains sidelined with strained knee ligaments.
